The short answer
A WhatsApp chatbot costs three things: building the bot, Meta's fee on every message, and upkeep. An Injaz AI by Injaz Digital chatbot starts from $1,000, with no platform subscription. Meta charges $0.0576 for a marketing message in Saudi Arabia and the UAE and $0.0644 in Egypt.
Clinic and store owners ask: “how much will a WhatsApp bot cost me?” and “what does it take every month?” The question is right, but the answer is not one number, because what you pay goes to two different parties: whoever builds the bot, and Meta, which owns WhatsApp.
What do you actually pay to run a WhatsApp chatbot?
You pay three separate parts, and the most important thing you can do is ask about each one on its own before accepting any offer:
| Part | What it covers | How it is charged |
|---|---|---|
| Building and running the bot | Designing the replies, training it on your business, and connecting WhatsApp and your systems. | At Injaz AI: starts from $1,000, with no subscription. On subscription platforms: a recurring fee the platform sets. |
| Meta's fees | Delivery of the message to your customer on WhatsApp. | Per delivered message, by its category and the recipient's country. |
| AI usage | The AI model that understands questions and writes the reply. | Meta says a third-party AI provider typically charges for AI usage separately from message delivery. |
| Upkeep | Updating answers and prices and keeping it running. | At Injaz AI: maintenance and follow-up on agreed terms. |
How much do you pay Meta in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Egypt?
Meta charges for every delivered message, by its category and the recipient's country, not your company's. These are its official rates in US dollars, effective 1 October 2026:
| Recipient country | Marketing | Utility | Authentication | Service |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Saudi Arabia | 0.0576 | 0.0107 | 0.0107 | 0.0107 |
| United Arab Emirates | 0.0576 | 0.0157 | 0.0157 | 0.0157 |
| Egypt | 0.0644 | 0.0036 | 0.0036 | 0.0036 |
“Marketing” means promotional template messages, “utility” template messages for transactions such as a booking confirmation, “authentication” verification codes, and “service” your replies to a customer who messaged you within 24 hours. The full rates for other countries are in our WhatsApp API pricing article.
What changed on 1 October 2026?
On 1 October 2026 a bot's replies to customers became chargeable after a free tier, the most important change for chatbot owners. Meta gives every business phone number its first 1,000 service messages free each month and charges from message 1,001 at the utility rate of the recipient's country, and utility messages inside the 24-hour window are now charged too. Messages stay free for 72 hours after a customer taps an ad that opens WhatsApp. Without a payment method on the account, service messages are not delivered once the free tier is used.
How much do a chatbot's messages cost per month?
Price a mid-sized bot's messages by multiplying each category by its rate. A simple worked example on Meta's rates above: a month with 2,000 utility messages (booking confirmations and reminders), 500 marketing messages, and 3,000 service messages (replies to customers who wrote to you), of which 1,000 are free so only 2,000 are charged, with all recipients in one country:
| Item | Saudi Arabia | United Arab Emirates | Egypt |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2,000 utility | 21.40 | 31.40 | 7.20 |
| 500 marketing | 28.80 | 28.80 | 32.20 |
| 2,000 chargeable service | 21.40 | 31.40 | 7.20 |
| Total in US dollars | 71.60 | 91.60 | 46.60 |
The numbers are direct multiplication of Meta's published rates, not a market average. They exclude volume-tier discounts, AI usage and any solution-provider fee.
How much does building the chatbot itself cost?
A WhatsApp chatbot from Injaz AI by Injaz Digital starts from $1,000. We build it and install it on your server, train it on your business knowledge, and connect your channels and systems. There is no platform subscription, no per-seat fee and no cap on conversations.
A chatbot built for your business differs from a subscription platform you rent for a recurring monthly fee in ownership, data and long-term cost. The full comparison of the two routes is in our article on a monthly-subscription chatbot versus one built for your business.
What raises or lowers the cost?
Six factors drive the cost, and three of them are in your hands:
That is why at Injaz AI we design the bot's messages to use the free windows as much as possible, with the right category for each message.
- Message category: marketing is the dearest category in all three countries, and utility and service are far cheaper.
- The customer's country: a utility message in the UAE costs more than four times the same one in Egypt, according to the table.
- Ads that open WhatsApp: every message is free for 72 hours after the customer taps, so pointing your ad at WhatsApp lowers the cost of the first conversation.
- Volume: tiers lower utility and authentication messages only, and in the region's markets start after 100,000 utility messages a month.
- Scope of customisation: the more systems and channels the bot connects to, the more work it takes.
- The AI model: its usage is billed separately if it comes from an outside provider, according to Meta.
Which questions do you ask before accepting a quote?
Before you sign, ask any provider for written answers to these six questions; a provider who answers them clearly knows what it sells:
- What exactly is the build price, and is it one payment or a subscription? What does it include?
- Who pays Meta's message fees, and at what rate? Is any fee added on top of Meta's price?
- Is AI usage inside the offer, or billed separately?
- Where is my customers' data stored, and who owns the system if I stop paying?
- What does maintenance include, and when does its contract start and at what price?
- Does the bot hand the chat to a person when needed, and does it reply in my customers' dialect?
This is the standard Injaz AI by Injaz Digital builds its chatbot to: starts from $1,000, installed on your server, with no platform subscription.
