Your YouTube Studio revenue sources: ads, Premium, memberships

Updated 16/10/2026 · 6 min read · Injaz Digital team

The short answer

Your channel's earnings in YouTube Studio come from several sources: ads, with a 55% share on long-form; YouTube Premium, by members' watch time; and memberships, Super Chat, Super Stickers and Super Thanks from viewer support. Injaz Digital's partners add two more: revenue recovered from copies through Content ID, and audio distribution to 100+ platforms.

When creators open the revenue tab they ask: “What do revenue sources mean?” and “How much do I keep from memberships and Super Thanks?”. This guide explains each source from YouTube Help, and what you actually keep from it.

What are the revenue sources in YouTube Studio?

YouTube Studio shows your estimated revenue from all types together, which YouTube Help defines as revenue from all types including memberships, Premium and Super Chat, while “estimated ad revenue” is from ads alone.

SourceWhere it comes fromYour share per YouTube
Ads (watch page)Ads on your long-form videos55% of net revenue
YouTube PremiumMember subscriptions by their watch time of your contentThe majority today; 55% long-form and 45% Shorts of your allocation from Feb 2027
Super ThanksA viewer pays to thank you on a video70% of recognized revenue after taxes and fees
Memberships, Super Chat, Super StickersMonthly membership, paid messages in streamsPer the fan funding module terms in Studio

How do you read each source in Studio?

  1. Open Analytics, then the Revenue tab, and scroll to “Your revenue sources”.
  2. Compare ads with Premium: if Premium is growing, long watch time is working for you.
  3. Watch viewer-support sources on their own; they don't depend on view count.
  4. Remember the figures are estimates; the final figure is in AdSense for YouTube.

Is US tax withheld from every source?

Yes, on earnings from US viewers across all sources. YouTube Help says withholding covers ads, YouTube Premium, Super Chat, Super Stickers, Super Thanks and memberships, which is why what you receive is lower than the Studio figure.

How do you add a new revenue source for your content?

You add it from the same content, not from new views. Two sources never show in your channel's Studio:

  • Revenue from copies: whoever re-uploads your content on their channel earns from it. Injaz Digital, as an official YouTube partner, adds its partners' content to Content ID, so every copy's revenue returns to the content owner.
  • Audio distribution: recitations, nasheeds and music also earn on Spotify, Anghami and Apple Music. Injaz Digital distributes them to 100+ platforms under the owner's name.

Why choose Injaz Digital to manage and protect your channel?

  • Over 4.1 billion views across partner channels, and over a million videos under our management every month.
  • We handle claims and disputes for you, and send you clear regular reports.
